I’ve been planning on making From up North bigger and better for quite a while now. A facelift is in the making and will go live in a month or so. But until then I’d like to introduce a new addition to the site: Design competitions! For three months we’ll do one competition a month and each contest will have a winner and a runner up who gets some really sweet prizes from our sponsors. All entries will be added to our Flickr group after the competition has ended and the winners will be posted here on the site followed by a couple of honorable mentions.
How the contests work
Each contest will have a specific theme that you the designer can interpret however you’d like. It’s kinda like a graphic design version of Nick Campbell’s awesome 5 second projects. You can use photography, illustration, typography or whichever design area you’re most comfortable with. Be as creative as you like!
Theme – Competition 1
The first theme is of course going to be “From up North“!
(If anyone would like to use the logo, or elements from it, you can download it here. It’s a Illustrator CS4 file, let me know if you need it in any other format.)
* Note: Billings Pro is only available for Mac.
