If you are a regular reader of From up North you probably know how strongly we feel about having your own, unique style. I mean, if there’s 100 other illustrators out there that have a similar style, why should the clients hire just you? Precisely, the style can be considered as an illustrators USP(unique selling point) and one should definitely put a lot of time and effort into experimenting and refining it to stand out form the noise.
One illustrator who’s managed to do this, and who’s work you instantly can identify, is British visual artist Alexis Marcou. His unique style mixes traditional illustration methods with the latest digital applications and tools, and often includes geometric lines and intricate shadings drawn using graphite and charcoal that is mixed using makeup brushes. A style that have landed him clients like Nike, ESPN, Gatorade, Air Jordan and BMW to name a few.
