There’s a common saying that beauty lies in the details, which I totally agree with. When trying to paint something realistically it’s noticing the tiniest of nuances and details that will make the finished piece truly “pop” and look real. This is something that is quite hard to do and takes a lot of training to master. Now imagine doing this and putting all of those details into a painting the size of a coin. Sounds pretty crazy, right? But believe it or not it’s actually doable.

South African miniature artist Lorraine Loots does just that, and the results are just mind-blowing! In her project “Paintings for Ants” she each day paints a new miniature painting, each with a different theme. Starting back in 2013 Lorraine have now painted several hundreds of these tiny masterpieces, all of which can be viewed on her Tumblr-page.
