    Everything looks the same. Sad.

    • Yes, true, but details make the difference.

  • Tom Granberg

Some good workmanship, but not really anything new, everyone is doing very similar things (boxes/squares) nothing really new and exciting.

    • Beatnutz

It has always been like that. We go through trends all the time. The trick is to find the ones that stand out.

No my friend. Just look on works from 2007 – 2010. Each project looks different. Each designer has tried make something new. Today we look on dribbble, make 45deg shadows, flat icons and use only neon colors with big background images. Boring. If you try present your project without iPhone or iMac, you lost.

        • Beatnutz

I’ve been around since everybody did abstract 3D sites/designs. Believe me, EVERYTHING looked the same and you could hear people whining about it then too. Pixelfonts in 6-8pt was the shit and everybody copied the works of Chapter3, GMUK, Renascent, WeWorkForThem etc. It’s just human nature to think that it used to be better. For instance, in the years you mentioned it was really popular to copy ISO50 and his worn out, faded style among other styles that was the thing back then.

I’m not saying it’s a great thing. Just saying that common styles and trends are a great way for truly creative people to do something that stands out. Once you nail it, that’s when the trends move on to the next thing. It’s a train that never stops basically. No need to chase it, just be ahead of it.

Those google redesign. Look aweful. Only Visual looking good, but bad user experience.
